lvcigar Louis Vuitton Cigar Humidor

The notorious fashion house Louis Vuitton is at it again, this time tackling a known obsession around the patelism offices…Cigars. The LV humidor is one of a kind piece that was originally intended to be a case to house ones Encyclopedia Britannica, ah the days before wikipedia. A later owner then converted the case into what you see now, it has all the trimmings a traditional cigar humidor with it being fully lined with seasoned Spanish cedar and American walnut which houses a removable humidification unit and holds about 500 cigars. It should be noted this is a one of kind piece dating back to 1925 and it does not come cheap, this LV humidor will set you back $27, 800 USD. It is currently on display at London’s Pullman Gallery. And in case your wondering which cigars we smoke at patelism, I personally enjoy the Rocky Patel Decade that should be no surprise. As for Inti I can vouch he’s a big fan of Don Pepin Garcia, let us know which cigars you guys smoke in the comments section.

1. Sri Lanka
For a quarter century, Sri Lanka seems to have been plagued by misfortune, including a brutal civil war between the Sinhalese majority and Tamil minority. But the conflict finally ended last May, ushering in a more peaceful era for this teardrop-shaped island off India’s coast, rich in natural beauty and cultural splendors.

The island, with a population of just 20 million, feels like one big tropical zoo: elephants roam freely, water buffaloes idle in paddy fields and monkeys swing from trees. And then there’s the pristine coastline. The miles of sugary white sand flanked by bamboo groves that were off-limits to most visitors until recently are a happy, if unintended byproduct of the war.

Among the most scenic, if difficult stretches to reach, is Nilaveli Beach in the Tamil north. While a few military checkpoints remain, vacationers can lounge on poolside hammocks under palm trees or snorkel in its crystal-clear waters. Or they can order cocktails at the Nilaveli Beach Hotel (www.tangerinehotels.com/nilavelibeach), a collection of recently renovated bungalows with private terraces.

An international airport in Matara, on the island’s southern shore, is under construction, which will make the gorgeous beaches near the seaside village of Galle easier to get to. Decimated by the tsunami in 2004, the surrounding coastline is now teeming with stylish guesthouses and boutique hotels. Mysore #4: New York Times: The 31 Places To Go In 2010

Unawatuna, a crescent-shaped beach a few miles south of Galle, may be furthest along. Higher-end hotels there include Thambapanni Retreat (www.thambapanni.biz), which features four-poster beds, yoga and an ayurvedic spa. The Sun House (www.thesunhouse.com), in Galle, looks like a place where the Queen of England might stay, with its mango courtyard and colonial décor. One stylish place tucked within Galle’s city walls is the Galle Fort Hotel (www.galleforthotel.com), a refurbished gem merchant’s house run by a couple of Aussies. — Lionel Beehner

2. Patagonia Wine Country
Ten years ago, a group of adventurous winemakers set their sights on an Argentine valley called San Patricio del Chañar, an unusually fertile and eerily beautiful corner of Patagonia. They plowed, planted and waited. The outcome? A blossoming wine country with delicious pinot noirs and malbecs and smartly designed wineries.

One of the area’s pioneers, the 2,000-acre Bodega del Fin del Mundo (www.bodegadelfindelmundo.com), which works with the influential wine consultant Michel Rolland, is racking up international medals for its complex merlot, cabernet and malbec blends. And NQN (bodeganqn.com.ar), which is associated with the Argentine oenologist Roberto de la Mota, has seen its 2006 Colección NQN Malbec get 92 points from Wine Enthusiast. Nearby is the new Valle Perdido winery (www.valleperdido.com.ar), which includes an 18-room resort surrounded by vineyards. At the spa, ask for antioxidant wine-infused treatments. — Paola Singer

3. Seoul
Forget Tokyo. Design aficionados are now heading to Seoul.

They have been drawn by the Korean capital’s glammed-up cafes and restaurants, immaculate art galleries and monumental fashion palaces like the sprawling outpost of Milan’s 10 Corso Como and the widely noted Ann Demeulemeester store — an avant-garde Chia Pet covered in vegetation.

And now Seoul, under its design-obsessed mayor, Oh Se-hoon, is the 2010 World Design Capital. The title, bestowed by a prominent council of industrial designers, means a year’s worth of design parties, exhibitions, conferences and other revelries. Most are still being planned (go to wdc2010.seoul.go.kr for updates). A highlight will no doubt be the third annual Seoul Design Fair (Sept. 17 to Oct. 7), the city’s answer to the design weeks in Milan and New York, which last year drew 2.5 million people and featured a cavalcade of events under two enormous inflatable structures set up at the city’s Olympic stadium. — Aric Chen

4. Mysore
You’ve completed 200 hours of teacher training, mastered flying crow pose and even spent a week at yoga surf camp. What’s next? Yogis seeking transcontinental bliss head these days to Mysore, the City of Palaces, in southern India.

The yogi pilgrimage was sparked by Ashtanga yoga, a rigorous sweat-producing, breath-synchronized regimen of poses popularized by the beloved Krishna Pattabhi Jois, who died at 94 in 2009. Mr. Jois’s grandson is now director of the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute (www.kpjayi.org). First month’s tuition is 27,530 rupees, or $600 at 46 rupees to the dollar. Classes generally require a one-month commitment.

Too much time or money? Mysore’s yoga boom now has shalas catering to every need. Off the mat, the yoga tribe hobnobs at Anu’s Bamboo Hut or the Regaalis Hotel pool, studies Sanskrit, gets an ayurveda treatment or tours the maharaja’s palace. — Mary Billard

The Trump Tower Penthouse

Posted by on October 5, 2009

Just about this time last year, as the economy was racing downhill faster than an Olympic skier, the promoters of the Chicago Spire announced that Ty Warner, the reclusive founder and chief executive officer of Westmont-based toymaker Ty Inc., had signed a contract to buy the sprawling 10,000-plus-square-foot penthouse on the Spire’s 141st and 142nd floors.

02 The Trump Tower Penthouse

The asking price was $40 million, though the actual sales price was not disclosed.

Here are the basics: The penthouse, now nothing more than windows, walls and raw concrete floors, occupies the entire 89th floor of the skyscraper. It has 14,260 square feet and seven bedrooms. There are 16 foot ceilings. And views, views, views in every direction. And what these pictures can only hint is the feeling of enormous space. The place feels like a private skydeck.

To the south, you can see Soldier Field, which, from 89 floors up, doesn’t bother me as much as it does at ground level. To the north is Wrigley Field. Throw in a telescope, and “you can watch a Cub game and a Bear game at the same time,” promises T. Colm O’Callaghan, the skyscraper’s managing director. More…

Royal Enfield Bullet Classic c5

A look at one of the very few Royal Enfield Bullet Classic’s shipped into the United States, even before their release in their home country, India.  This vintage looking 1951 body has many new modern tweeks such as a unit construction, fuel injection, hydraulic lifters & a smooth shifting 5 speed transmission, … it’s a brand new motorcycle, it just looks like a perfectly restored 60 year old bike.  As you can see in the picture above it has the Post-World War II styling with authentic fuel tank graphics, body-colored frame, color-keyed to match the fuel tank and fenders, sprung saddle, with special bushings for smoothness of action and isolation of vibration, era-correct stitching, texture and finish on the seat cover for period-perfect style, black-painted alloy cylinder, emulating the cast-iron cylinders common in the 1950s.  More Retro – More Reliable – More Refined, Royal Enfield.

Ruger SR-556 A.K.A. *AR-15*

Posted by on May 19, 2009

11 Ruger SR 556 A.K.A. *AR 15*The most significant feature is a new short stroke gas piston designed by Ruger. It shares the same benefits as other gas pistons system: a cleaner, cooler bolt carrier as the excess gas it vented out the gas block, far from the upper receiver. The AR-15 was not designed for a piston and retrofit piston systems can cause problems, for example the pressure from the piston operating rob can cause the bolt carrier to bind. It was been suggested that the Ruger bolt carrier is designed to mitigate this particular problem.

12 Ruger SR 556 A.K.A. *AR 15*

Another feature is a four position gas regulator. The first position prevents any gas entering the piston system. This turns the rifle into a single shot which requires the bolt to be manually cycled between shots. The next position allows the normal quantity of gas into the piston system to cycle the bolt. The next two position each let in more gas than the previous system which can help when the rifle is dirty or the ammunition is low powered. It is a compelling feature for reloaders because it gives them a greater range of adjustment for thier powder loads. The MSRP is $1,995. It is expensive and you could build one your self from parts for less, but if the gas system works flawlessly then I think it will be a good seller.

This is what happens when you take a classic design of the Toyota Land-Cruisers and re-build them with the passion of the original look and feel but updated with today’s tech. That’s what ICON does with its FJ packages that allow owners to completely customize the look and feel with old school or new school packages. TLC’s ICON was born because Toyota commissioned TLC to build prototypes for the new FJ that was released in 2007. Although Toyota didn’t use TLC’s designs that were inspired by the classic FJ’s of old, Johnathan Ward who is the founder of TLC decided to custom build them himself. More…

audi q7 Refreshed Audi Q7 India Launch In 2010

Audi will introduce its facelifted Q7 in India next year. The new Audi Q7  will go on sale in Europe soon. Some of the changes in the 2010 Q7 include a restyled grille, tweaked lights with Audi’s LED technology and a slightly tweaked chin, but there’s no way you can mistake the Q7 for anything else.

Audi has also developed a ‘clean diesel’ version of the 3.0-litre V6 TDi which is reputed to be Euro 6 compliant and uses an AdBlue catalyst, but whether this version will be available in India isn’t clear. The 4.2-litre FSI petrol has been retained and the monstrous 6.0-litre V12 TDi will not make it to India.
